Saturday, 3rd – Sunday, 4th June. Thy Kingdom Come – 24 hour prayer vigil at All Saints, Edmonton: Last year the Archbishops of Canterbury and York made a call to Christians to offer a special time of prayer for the period between Ascension Day and Pentecost 2017.  You can find out more about it here: https://www.thykingdomcome.global/.  Churches across the globe have responded to this initiative, and All Saints Edmonton will be taking part in this great wave of prayer, by holding a 24 hour prayer vigil from midday on Saturday 3rd June through until midday on Sunday 4th June.  They are looking for people to commit to spending an hour in prayer in All Saints.  If you’d like to be part of this, please e-mail Fr Stuart at fr.stuart@gmail.com with your name and the hour you’ll go and pray in All Saints for (e.g Sat 4th, 10 p.m.).

Sunday, 4th June: Choral Evensong Reception sponsored by choralevensong.org!  You are invited to a special Choral Evensong at 6.30 p.m. and we hope to be joined by many special guests from the area.  A new website – www.choralevensong.org – now makes it possible to find details of Choral Evensong services all over Great Britain and Ireland.  The website’s organisers are planning similar ‘Choral Evensong Receptions’ across the country, and our Choral Evensong Reception is one of the very first in launching this new initiative.

On 12th June 1942, Southgate resident Ken Gatward, flew a Bristol Beaufighter down the Champs-Elysees in Paris whilst the German Troops were parading up and down. He dropped a large Tricolore over the top of the Arc de Triomphe in an act of defiance against the occupying forces and an act of solidarity with the French people. The French Government presented Ken with a replica Tricolore at a special service in Broomfield Park in 1949 and as Southgate’s Parish Church it has hung in our church ever since.
