The Pastoral Committee would like to send cards to the people on our prayer list to let them know we are praying for them.  If you have asked for a friend or relative to be put on our list and you think they would like a card please let me have their address so that we can write to them.  An email or a phone call would be fine.  Cathy Dallman 0208 886 5918 (

Baird Memorial Homes: Trustees needed.  Vacancies have come up for the board of trustees including the role of secretary.  We meet briefly three times a year to oversee the shelter given to the residents.  If you are interested in helping, please see Fr Chrichton.

Friday 2nd November: The Top Step Bar in Church House will be open from 6 p.m. every first Friday of the month.  Depending on availability of staff, we may continue to open at 6 p.m. every Friday.

Sunday 4th November: All Souls’ Requiem Mass at 6.30 p.m. featuring the music of Faure, marks the beginning of the week of Southgate Remembers.  This is a week of reflection and remembrance, with displays and exhibits in church, to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1.  The church will be open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 7.30 p.m., Monday 5th November to Sunday 11th November.  The event will include an installation of 10 silhouette soldiers, awarded by the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund, that are “There But Not There.”  See separate flyer for more details.

Tuesday 6th November: An Hour of silent Prayer following the 7.30 p.m. Eucharist, including optional prayer for Healing and Wholeness with the Laying on Hands and Anointing.

Wednesday 7th November Illustrated talk on WW1 posters with lunch at 12 noon.

Wednesday 7th November: Enfield Deanery Synod with Bishop Sarah of London at All Saints, Edmonton at 8 p.m.  Proceeded by Eucharist at 7.15 p.m.  All welcome to hear and meet our new Bishop.

Wednesday 7th November: The Annual General Meeting of the Christchurch Association (CCA) in the Reception Room at 8.30 p.m.  All members are encouraged to attend, and anyone who wishes to find out more about the CCA will be welcome.  This year we are looking for some new committee members to help run the CCA – please contact Clive Woodhouse if you may be interested.

Thursday 8th November: Evening of WW1 music and readings, at 7.30 p.m. including the words of local men and women.

Saturday 10th November: Vigil Service of prayer and reading for the Eve of the Armistice at 7.30 p.m.

Sunday 11th November, 10.30 a.m.:  Service of Remembrance, including 2 minutes silence and laying of wreaths, followed by Bring and Share lunch in Church House.

Sunday 11th November, 6.30 p.m. – Sung Eucharist for Remembrance.

Southgate Remembers Week: It is not too late to contribute to the exhibitions as we are still looking for any special documents, family stories or objects to use in the exhibitions and events that will help the current generation really understand the individual and personal sacrifices that were made in the very recent past.  We are looking for volunteers to be in church during the week to act as hosts to make the week even more memorable, please speak to the wardens or Fr Chrichton.

Sunday 25 November, 6.30pm: Patronal Festival Concert “Venetian Splendour.”  The Choir and orchestra will perform works including Moneterdi Beatus Vir and Vivaldi Conceto for Violin and Cello. Tickets £14 / £12 Concessions / Under 18’s free.  Available directly from Richard after services, by phone (Parish Office), by email (, via (search Venetian Splendour), or on the door.  Programme and Sponsorship details can be found below.

Patronal Festival Concert Sponsorship: Would you like to support the choir for Christ Church’s Patronal Festival concert on Sunday 25th November (6.30 p.m.)?  This year’s concert takes on a special Italian character as the choir prepares for its tour to Venice next February.  The programme will see Christ Church turned into St Mark’s Basilica for the night with music by Gabrieli, Monteverdi and Vivaldi.  Profits for this year’s concert will be put towards supporting the Venice Tour.
