Prayer Intentions

Please include the following in your prayers.

Church:  For our bishops, Richard and Peter; our priest, Fr Peter; our lay readers, Cathy and Malcolm; our home communicants, especially Elsie Shaw and Jean Corey. In the Churches Together Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Welsh Presbyterian Church, its minister and congregation.

The World: For victims of poverty, hunger, fear and oppression. For peace throughout the world. For the victims of natural disasters.

Community: For our Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth, for her government and all those in authority. For our Director of Music, Organist and Choir. For those who live on the Green.

Friday, 17th October: Coffee Morning Please join us from 10.30 – 12.15 in Church for coffee, tea and biscuits.

Sunday, 19th October: Traidcraft products will be on sale following the 10 a.m. Eucharist.

Saturday, 1st November: Christ Church Cream Tea sponsored by the Social Responsibility Committee between 3 and 5 p.m. in Church House in aid of USPG charity. Cost £3.50. Please let Jackie Anderson (8245 0305 or 079 9079 5694) or Patricia Harper (079 4014 4785) know if you plan to attend.

Sunday, 2nd November: Choral All Souls Requiem at 6.30 p.m. in Church in lieu of Evensong. At this service, we remember our departed family, friends and loved ones. Please add the names of those you would like included in the special intentions at this Eucharist to the list at the back of Church. The music this year will be Duruflé’s Requiem.

Confirmation: The Vicar will offer preparation classes beginning in November. If you would like to be confirmed, please let him know.

Operation Christmas Child 2008 - The Social Responsibility Committee is organizing this year’s collection of shoeboxes containing gifts for children in Africa and Eastern Europe. You can help by supplying shoe boxes covered in Christmas paper (bottom and lid separately) with gifts, suitable for a boy or girl, put inside. No liquids, no ‘war’ toys, no chocolates, and only picture books. Last date for collection is Sunday 9th November.

Charity Stall: Jars needed for jam & marmalade making – please leave at the back of the church. Also gifts and items to sell needed – please contact Hilary Meur on 8360 2362.

Saturday, 15th November: Christmas Fair. Help is required to staff the Church stalls. Please contact Nicole Cross on 07850 391285. Toy Stall - Donations needed of good quality toys and children's clothes for sale at the fair. Please leave them labelled at the back of the church. Cake Stall – If you would like to bake cakes for the Fair, you can start now; Joan & Philip Way have freezer space and will collect! Please contact Joan & Philip Way on 020 8360 5876.  Jewellery Stall – Costume jewellery needed: necklaces, earrings, brooches, rings, scarf rings, pill boxes. Broken pieces and missing stones can be repaired. Please contact John Clarke. Tombola – Items are needed for adults and children. Bottle Tombola – Full bottles please. Refreshments – if you would like to bake small cakes or make sandwiches please bring them on the day wrapped and clearly labelled. No more books please.

Spire Advertising If you or your business would like to advertise in the parish magazine, please contact the office on 020 8886 0384 for details.

Next of Kin If you live alone and would like the parish office to have the details of your next of kin in case of an emergency, please fill in one of the cards available at the back of Church. You will need to ask your next of kin if they are happy with Christ Church holding their details. No one else will see the details and we will not pass them on to anyone else. After you have filled out the form, please hand it to Cathy Dallman.

Mothers' Union We meet for Corporate Communion Service on the second Wednesday in every month. A social activity (lecture, lunch, etc.) organised by the Lunch Fellowship usually follows this. Please refer to 'This Week' above for details and Lunch Fellowship contact arrangements in the next entry.We are a church group for everybody irrespective of age, sex and marital status. You do not need to be a mother to become our member.

Christ Church Association

The Bar will be open as usual at the following times. New Members are always welcome:
Wednesdays 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Fridays 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Sundays 7:30pm - 10:30pm

The Christchurch Association Bar is open at the above times throughout the year. All are most welcome to visit and become members. We always stock a good range of soft drinks so why not bring your families and friends along to one of our special events or any Wednesday, Friday or Sunday.

Please Note: It is a legal requirement that all who purchase drinks from the Top Step Bar are Christchurch Association Members. Guests of members need to be "signed-in".
