Church: For our bishops, Richard and Peter; our vicar, Fr Peter, who is on sabbatical; our curate, Fr Howard; our lay readers, Cathy, Malcolm and Jackie; all our home communicants. In the Churches Together Cycle of Prayer, we pray for Christ the King, Cockfosters, its priest and congregation.
The World: For victims of poverty, hunger, fear and oppression. For peace throughout the world. For the victims of natural disasters.
Community: For our Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth, for her government and all those in authority. For our Director of Music, Organist and choir. For those who live on The Green.

Thursday, 2nd September: Prayer Group from 2 p.m. at 64 The Greenway.
Friday, 3rd September: Coffee Morning Please join us from 10.30-12.15 in Church for coffee, tea and biscuits.
Friday, 3rd September: Choir Rehearsal 6.15 probationers; 6.45 p.m. junior choristers; 7.15 senior choristers; 8 p.m. adults.

Sunday, 5th September: The Return! Of the Sunday School, the Choir and the Vicar.
Wednesday, 8th September: Lunch Fellowship talk about ‘Kew Gardens’ by Brenda Brown at 12 noon preceded by Eucharist at 11 a.m. All are welcome. Sandwich lunch with sweet and coffee/tea is at £3 per person. Booking is preferable. Please ring Hilary (8360 2362) or Lynda (8886 4811).
Saturday, 11th September: Parish Walk Jackie Anderson and Lynda Corcoran will lead an 11-mile walk – through Trent Park and part of the London Loop - starting at 10 a.m. outside Cockfosters Station. It is not a difficult walk as most of it is fairly flat, and we will take a steady pace. Everybody is very welcome to attend. You could do the Trent Park walk and then turn around if you wish to only do part of the walk. We will have lunch at a Pub midway on the walk, but you can bring your own if you prefer. For further enquiries speak to Jackie (8245 0305).
Sunday, 19th September: Harvest Festival and Picnic At the 10 a.m. Eucharist, we will collect tinned items and dry packaged food for Homeless Action Barnet. We will celebrate with a barbeque and bring & share picnic after the 10 a.m. Eucharist in the Church Garden (Church House in case of inclement weather). Children’s entertainment and fun for all!
Saturday, 25th September: Charities Lunch in Church House at noon for 12.30 p.m. Cost £5. All welcome.
Sunday, 27th September: Fr Nicholas Wheeler, a USPG priest in the City of God Brazil, will preach at 10 a.m. and make a presentation about his work, which our parish has supported, afterwards.
Sunday, 3rd October: Festival Choral Evensong Bishop Peter will join us for Evensong to bless a new icon commissioned for the Lady Chapel in memory of parishioners Mary Hughes and Marjorie Godfrey. A party will follow.
Youth Group is on holiday. It meets during term time on Thursdays in the Reception Room – ages 10-14 from 6.45 – 7.45 p.m.; ages 14-18 from 7.45 – 9.15 p.m.
Vicar’s Sabbatical: The Vicar is on sabbatical to 4th September. The Vicar will not be available during his sabbatical, although he will be in Southgate for part of this time. Instead, please email Fr Howard or phone him. Any emails or phone calls made to the Vicar will be answered by Fr Howard or others assisting him.
Next of Kin: If you live alone and would like the parish office to have the details of your next of kin in case of an emergency, please fill in one of the cards available at the back of Church. You will need to ask your next of kin if they are happy with Christ Church holding their details. No one else will see the details and we will not pass them on to anyone else. After you have filled out the form, please hand it to Cathy Dallman.
Lunch Fellowship: To let us know that you can come to one of our Wednesday meetings (after the 11 a.m. Eucharist) or for more information, please contact Lynda Rigg (8886 4811) or Hilary Meur (8360 2362) or Judith Lo (8882 3335).
The Christ Church Association Bar: New Members are always welcome. We always stock a good range of soft drinks, so why not bring your families and friends along to the bar for normal opening times or for our special events. The Christ Church Association Bar is open at the following times throughout the year:
Wednesdays 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Fridays 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Sundays 7:30pm - 10:30pm
Please Note: It is a legal requirement that all who purchase drinks from the Top Step Bar are Christchurch Association Members. Guests of members need to be "signed-in".
