THIS SUNDAY – ADVENT SUNDAY : Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming”. Advent begins the church year, starting four Sundays before Christmas. The season of Advent has been set aside as a time of preparation for Christmas since at least the last half of the 6th century. Today, our observance of Advent remains important because it gives us the space to prepare for the true meaning of Christmas. Advent is a time for self-examination and asking for forgiveness as the church prepares to celebrate the incarnation of God at Christmas. Join us this Sunday at 8am, 10am and at our candlelit Advent Procession at 6.30pm as we begin advent with this special sequence of readings and carols. OUR 400TH ANNIVERSARY : This year we celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christian worship on this site.
SUPPORT US : Please support Christ Church Southgate through regular giving, because what happens here matters.
