The Reverend Dr Chrichton Limbert has been Vicar of Christ Church Southgate since September 2015.
Fr Chrichton was born and brought up in Northwood Hills on the Metropolitan Line and from an early age was a choirboy at the local church, quickly becoming involved in all aspects of parish life. He gained a degree in Experimental Psychology at University of Reading, and then went to University of Cambridge, ending up with a Doctorate in Psychoacoustics. During this time, on a church trip to the Oberammergau Passion Play, he met his wife Judith.
He spent 30 years working at the BBC in London in a number of varied roles – mostly spent in News – ranging from Sound Engineer, Producer, Studio and Outside Broadcast Director and then Production Strategist.
Chrichton and Judith have three grown up children. Before ordination in 2012 Chrichton and Judith took a full part in parish life in Berkhamsted. It was here that Chrichton clocked up his 45th year singing in a church choir. Chrichton and Judith were heavily involved in establishing a Hospice at Home Charity; Chrichton played in a show band for over 15 years – performing at weddings and other odd functions to raise money for the nurses.
Fr Chrichton trained for the priesthood at St Mellitus College in East London, gaining another degree while sitting next to our assistant priest, Hazel Miall every week. He completed his 3-year curacy at All Saints Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
Fr Chrichton sits on the Edmonton Area Bishop’s Council, is an Assistant Area Director of Ordinands, and is the Edmonton Area Lead for Creation Care as a member of the London Diocese Creation Care Steering Group.
Fr Chrichton is very keen that Christ Church is truly available to all as the Parish Church within the community. He looks forward to meeting you at the Church on the Green, N14.
