Marylebone Choral Scholarships
at Christ Church Southgate

If you are a student or recent post-graduate aged 16-25 and have a love of choral singing, you could apply for one of our Marylebone Choral Scholarships, which are generously supported by Marylebone Asset Management.
Choral Scholars are paid £1,500 each year to sing with the Choir at Choral Eucharist and Evensong each week. They have the opportunity to take part in at least one solo recital each year and to sing with the choir and professional orchestra in an annual concert. When the choir goes on tour within the UK and abroad, the Choral Scholars’ travel and accommodation costs are fully covered – recent trips have included Rome, Leipzig, Westminster Cathedral, Winchester Cathedral and York Minster.
A Choral Scholarship is a wonderful way to gain experience of singing at a high standard in a choir that covers a broad repertoire, to improve your sight-reading and build your vocal technique. The choir rehearses every Friday evening, and sings Eucharist each Sunday morning at 10am and Evensong each Sunday evening at 6.30pm during term time.
It is also excellent preparation for any young musician wanting to pursue music further. Recent choral scholars have gone on to study at the Royal College of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, and to join the choirs of Keble, Merton, and The Queen’s College in Oxford, Clare, Emmanuel, and Robinson in Cambridge, Royal Holloway Chapel Choir, Royal Northern College of Music/Manchester University joint studies degree, and the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir.
For more information, or to arrange an audition, please email the Director of Music, William Waine, at music@christchurch-southgate.org. Choral Scholarships usually begin in September and run for one academic year. However, William would be delighted to hear from you at any time.
