For their much-loved annual Patronal Festival Concert, the Choir of Christ Church Southgate, directed by William Waine, and the professional Bach Sinfonia, led by Liz Partridge, present one of the most powerful and enduring works in the choral repertoire — Mozart’s Requiem.
Written in the final year of Mozart’s life, the Requiem is a work of extraordinary intensity, drama and beauty. Its magnificent orchestral writing, unforgettable choral passages and deeply human expression have made it one of Mozart’s most beloved works.
The programme also features Mozart’s Masonic Funeral Music, alongside music by Handel and Weelkes.
The Choir of Christ Church Southgate enjoys a reputation as one of north London’s finest voluntary auditioned choirs. With over 30 singers, both adults and children, the Choir sings Eucharist and Choral Evensong on most Sundays and major Feast Days, as well as performing in concerts, recordings and on tours across the UK and abroad.
All proceeds from the concert support the work of the Choir — a centre of excellence in parish music and one of the last choirs in north London proudly keeping alive the tradition of singing a full Choral Evensong every week.
