2024
This year the knitted nativity family, led by Mary, Joseph and Donkey, are going ‘Underground’ looking for ‘signs’ of the Christmas story.
Travel with them from 1 December to Christmas Eve to see a new destination every day.
2023
In 2023 Mary, Joseph and Donkey went on a Roman Holiday before setting off around the parish. How many of the places that they visited do you recognise?
2022
In 2022 Mary, Joseph and Donkey had a look at some old Advent Calendars to see what was behind each door – but on a 24 different calendars. Which was your favourite? Donkey was hoping for chocolate every day, but was sadly disappointed!
2021
In 2021 they were once again able to stay overnight in homes in the parish, but we had lots of unseen “behind the scenes” images of what really happened when they were looking for the manger in church. We thought that you would like to see these glimpses of their exploits along the way. Can you spot where they explored in church?
2020
Mary, Joseph and their donkey really enjoy travelling round the parish every year on their way to the stable. In 2020 they were not able to find any shelter inside people’s homes, so had to travel round on their own. This was a record of their daily progress, the joyful end of the journey with the birth of their son Jesus, and of the visitors to the stable who came to see the baby.
Out in the fields the shepherds were watching their flock and an angel of the Lord came down. The angel told the shepherds the good news that their Saviour had been born and that they would find him lying in a manger.
Following a star three kings made their way to see the baby. It was a long journey, eventually the star stopped over the stable. They offered Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
